While the group events of the Rock Creek Extreme Cleanup have been canceled due to public health guidance, the work of stewarding Rock Creek continues. Please help us collect even MORE litter than last year’s cleanup by doing an individual cleanup.
This spring is extra special because we will also be celebrating the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. What better way to show respect for our Earth than cleaning up our watershed and getting outside — while practicing proper social distancing, of course!
When: Anytime between now and May 15, 2020
Where: Anywhere near you in Rock Creek Park
What to bring: Gloves and trash bags. BE SAFE: follow CDC guidelines for social distancing and other hygiene.
How to do it: Before heading out, register your cleanup so we can celebrate the Rock Creek community and our combined efforts. Use your judgment. Don’t pick up anything that seems unsafe or unsanitary – make sure to wear gloves!
If you want to keep track of trash you find as you go, download the CleanSwell app. It’s easy to use and a great way to record and share your results.
After the Clean Up: Please fill out this data form: Individual Cleanup Data. Collecting this information is extremely important to RCC as it lets them see just how much trash is getting removed from our natural spaces!
Share your work: Please post photos and results of your clean up on our Facebook event or tag us using @blueplanetdc and Rock Creek Conservancy @loverockcreek on Instagram.
