In the PADI Mermaid Instructor™ course, you’ll refine your PADI Mermaid™ certifications and apply them to teaching others the wonders of the underwater world. You’ll learn the basics of how to design your own program, using the PADI teaching system. You earn a PADI Mermaid Instructor rating through hard work and commitment, but you’re rewarded with a job that lets you share incredible underwater adventures with others – transforming their lives for the better and enriching yours.
To enroll in the PADI Mermaid Instructor course you must be 18 years old or older and have a PADI Advanced Mermaid certification (or a qualifying certification from another mermaid organization). You need to be able to swim at least 800m/yd with and without swim aids, be able to float comfortably at the surface for at least 10 minutes, and be in good physical health.

In the PADI Mermaid Instructor course, you will use a monofin (i.e. mermaid tail), mask, snorkel, and fins. You may also wear a wetsuit and weight belt. Using gear designed specifically for freediving and mermaiding is required for this level.
