MerMagic Con Mermaid and Freediving Classes with Blue Planet

We're headed back to the world's largest mermaid convention, right here in the DC area!

Blue Planet is thrilled to be hosting the PADI Mermaid Program: PADI Basic Mermaid, Mermaid, and Discover Mermaid courses, along with PADI Basic Freediver!

All courses require MerMagic Con General Admission to participate.

Want to be certified before MerMagic Con? You can earn the PADI Basic Mermaid and PADI Mermaid through Blue Planet in Washington, DC!

PADI BASIC FREEDIVER

Prerequisites: 12 years and up, with adequate swimming skills, and be in good physical health.

The PADI Basic Freediver course is a subset of the PADI Freediver course. It’s a great first step for developing solid freediving skills. You learn basic freediving principles and focus on practicing breathhold techniques in a pool or confined water site.

PADI BASIC MERMAID

Prerequisites: 6 years and up, be able to swim 25 meters (80 feet) comfortably without any aids, float at the surface for at least 3 minutes, and be in good physical health.

Learn basic mermaiding principles and focus on practicing skills in a pool or confined water site. The PADI Basic Mermaid course combines learning, supporting knowledge, and principles with a confined water skill development session to introduce the fun of fundamental mermaid diving. The course covers the background and culture of mermaid diving, primary safety considerations, equipment, and basic water skills.

PADI MERMAID

Prerequisites: Ages 10 years and up, be able to swim 50m/160ft without swim aids, float comfortably for 5 minutes, and be in good health.

Make a splash and unleash your inner mermaid with the PADI Mermaid course! This magical experience goes beyond the basics, teaching you dynamic mermaid skills that turn swimming into an art form. Glide, twirl, and express yourself beneath the waves as you master techniques unique to mermaiding. (Bonus: The PADI Mermaid course includes Basic Mermaid so you can dive right in—no need to take Basic Mermaid separately!)

PADI DISCOVER MERMAID

Have you ever dreamed of swimming like a mermaid? Dive into a world of wonder with our PADI Discover Mermaid Experience! In a safe and supportive environment, guided by a certified PADI Mermaid Instructor, you'll have the opportunity to experience the thrill of mermaiding. Our flexible, enjoyable, and informative session is perfect for those curious about what it's like to swim with a mermaid tail and monofin, in shallow, confined water where you can easily stand.
