Blue Planet is hosting PADI Discover Mermaid classes both Saturday and Sunday, in addition to PADI Basic Freediver, PADI Basic Mermaid, and PADI Mermaid Upgrade.
Want to be certified before MerMagic Con? You can earn the PADI Basic Mermaid and PADI Mermaid through Blue Planet in Washington DC!
PADI BASIC FREEDIVER
Prerequisites: 12 years and up, with adequate swimming skills, and be in good physical health.
The PADI Basic Freediver course is a subset of the PADI Freediver course. It’s a great first step for developing solid freediving skills. You learn basic freediving principles and focus on practicing breathhold techniques in a pool or confined water site.
PADI BASIC MERMAID
Prerequisites: 6 years and up, be able to swim 25 meters (80 feet) comfortably without any aids, float at the surface for at least 3 minutes, and be in good physical health.
Learn basic mermaiding principles and focus on practicing skills in a pool or confined water site. The PADI Basic Mermaid course combines learning, supporting knowledge, and principles with a confined water skill development session to introduce the fun of fundamental mermaid diving. The course covers the background and culture of mermaid diving, primary safety considerations, equipment, and basic water skills.
PADI MERMAID
Prerequisites: Ages 10 years and up, be able to swim 50m/160ft without swim aids, float comfortably for 5 minutes, and be in good health.
