Sharks are crucial to marine ecosystems, yet sharks are in a global decline. Learn about the value of sharks and what is causing the rapid loss of shark populations. The course may include two scuba dives or may be presented as a nondiving education program. The first dive of this distinctive specialty course may credit as an Adventure Dive toward your Advanced Open Water Diver certification, ask your instructor about earning credit.
What You Learn
- The conservation status of sharks, why they are unique and vulnerable, and the importance of healthy shark populations
- How to manage threats to sharks, recognize the value of sharks and remove barriers to conservation
- Actions you can take to protect sharks and how joining a global movement of divers can help to protect sharks
Prerequisites
- PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver (or hold a qualifying certification from another training organization)
- 12 years or older

Your Next Adventure
As you learn more about sharks, you may also want to brush up on your underwater photography skills so that you can capture images of the species you’re encountering. This can be acheived via the PADI Digital Underwater Photographer Course.
